SONORAN BEDROOM

The dawn is buried deep within our genetic depths and every day it
rises up, unfailingly, to express the fathomless proteins and nucleotides
in a flood of joyful awe that is not strictly human or apish or mammalian;
but also avian and insectoid and floristic. And perhaps it lies
deeper still. In the veins of such inanimates as silvery granite peaks
and vermilion sandstone canyons and golden silky sand dunes which,
after all, comprise many of the same elements that course through
our own veins.
